സച്ചിന് ലോറസ് പുരസ്കാരം; ഈ നേട്ടത്തിലെത്തുന്ന ആദ്യ ഇന്ത്യക്കാരന്‍
കഴിഞ്ഞ 20 വർഷത്തെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച കായിക നിമിഷത്തിനുള്ള ലോറസ് പുരസ്കാരം ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ഇതിഹാസം സച്ചിൻ തെൻഡുൽക്കർക്ക്. കായികരംഗത്തെ ഓസ്കർ എന്നാണ് ഈ പുരസ്കാരം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്.
2011ൽ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ വച്ചു നടന്ന ഐസിസി ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ലോകകപ്പിൽ ഇന്ത്യ കിരീടത്തിലെത്തിയപ്പോൾ സഹതാരങ്ങൾ സച്ചിനെയുമായി മൈതാനം വലംവച്ച നിമിഷമാണ് കഴിഞ്ഞ രണ്ടു പതിറ്റാണ്ടിലെ മികച്ച കായിക നിമിഷമായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടത്.
'ഒരു രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ ചുമലില്‍' എന്ന അടിക്കുറിപ്പോടെയാണ് ചിത്രം പുരസ്‌കാരത്തിന് പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്. ലോറസ് പുരസ്കാരം നേടുന്ന ആദ്യ ഇന്ത്യക്കാരനാണ് സച്ചിന്. ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച പുലര്‍ച്ചെ ബെര്‍ലിനില്‍ നടന്ന ചടങ്ങിലാണ് പുരസ്കാരം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്.
അര്‍ജന്റീനയുടെയും ബാഴ്‌സലോണയുടെയും ഫുട്‌ബോള്‍ സൂപ്പര്‍താരം ലയണല്‍ മെസിയും ഫോര്‍മുല വണ്‍ കാറോട്ട താരം ലൂയി ഹാമില്‍ട്ടണും മികച്ച പുരുഷതാരത്തിനുള്ള പുരസ്കാരം പങ്കിട്ടു.. യുഎസ് ജിംനാസ്റ്റ് സിമോൺ ബൈൽസിനാണ് വനിതാവിഭാഗത്തിൽ പുരസ്കാരം.
