Engelbert Humperdinck
Engelbert Humperdinck was one of the most popular singers of the 1960s and has continued to perform to fans around the world well into his 80s.
Engelbert Humperdinck, whose real name is Arnold George Dorsey, was born in Madras, British India (which is now known as Chennai, India) on2 May 1936. He was born to parents Mervyn Dorsey and Olive Dorsey. His father was a non-commissioned officer in the British Army at the time. He has nine siblings, and his family moved to Leicester, England, when he was just ten years old. By the early 1950’s he was playing the saxophone in Nightclubs. His impression of popular American singer and actor Jerry Lewis was spot on, which led to his friends calling him “Gerry Dorsey.” He worked under his name for almost ten years.
He was then called into the British Army Royal Corps of Signals during the mid-1950s. After finishing that, he recorded his first song, “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” in 1958, which was with Decca records.
Engelbert Humperdinck married popular English actress Patricia Healey on the 18th of April, 1964. Together they have four children- Scott, Jason, Louise, and Bradley. Two women were able to successfully sue him in paternity lawsuits back in the 1970s and ’80s. When it comes to his religious views, he is a Roman Catholic. When it comes to his assets, he owns properties in Great Britain and California.
In a career spanning almost 50 years, Engelbert Humperdinck has generated sales in excess of 140 million records, including 64 gold albums, 35 platinum, four Grammy nominations, a Golden Globe, and stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Las Vegas Walk of Fame, and Leicester Walk of Fame. He has performed for the Queen four times, several presidents and many heads of state. He has recorded everything from the most romantic ballads to movie theme songs, disco, rock, and even gospel. His unique voice has charmed millions of fans of all ages from around the globe. It’s not just his mesmerising voice, but the warmth of the man himself, with his self-endearing sense of humour and self-deprecating jokes.

* He was nominated for the Grammy Award in 2003 for “Always Hear The Harmony: The Gospel Sessions” in the category of BEST SOUTHERN, COUNTRY, OR BLUEGRASS GOSPEL ALBUM.
* He was nominated for the Grammy Award in 1977 for his album “After The Lovin’’ in the category of BEST POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE, MALE.
* He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1989.
* He won a Golden Globe Award as “Entertainer Of The Year” in 1988.
